Back to Basics Hair Care
Baking soda & Apple cider vinegar. Say what?
Whether the goal is to pinch pennies, simplify hair care, or try something new, this is about as simple, clean, and cheap as it gets!
I have been ‘poo-less’ for several years now and I love it! Sure, occasionally I use a traditional shampoo or conditioner, but baking soda has become my daily scalp cleanser. My scalp does not get as oily as I’m no longer stripping it of all of the natural oils sending it into oil production overdrive! I use a flip top plastic squeeze bottle.
Apple Cider Vinegar is rather cheap considering the cost of conditioners these days and does not clog my pores! I tend to go to bed with wet hair and would often get clogged pores on my neck from residual conditioner. So I kicked the creamy stuff to the curb and started using ACV. I personally do not use it after every wash, but we are all different. You will be surprised at how effective this is. I use a vinegar bottle like you’d find in a restaurants oil and vinegar dressing caddy! I found glass to hold up better for the vinegar.
Shampoo & Conditioner Recipe
Shampoo - 1 Tablespoon baking soda to 1 cup water. Mix and shake in a squeeze bottle. Use as little or as much of mix as needed for a wash. Adjust the baking soda to your preferred cleansing level.
Conditioner - 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar to 1 cup water. Mix in a squeeze bottle. Use as much as needed; adjust ACV to preferred level of conditioning. This will also work as a spray to free tangles.
