Holiday prep!
I start my holiday season in September to make sure the soap has enough time to cure. A labor of love for sure, but these make for such adorable holiday gifts and stocking stuffers!
All of the presents & snowflakes are individually hand painted with naturally colored soap. Anything from cocoa powder to give the moose that special ‘moose-like’ color, to cinnamon for the gingerbread men, and clays to make colorful ribbons.
The snowflake scoop. I use titanium dioxide to paint the snowflakes. It is a naturally occurring mineral that is very white, opaque, and refracts light. These properties make it a great natural pigment choice and UV filter!
While inhalation of titanium dioxide has known health risks, use within formulated products is much safer i.e. sunscreens, lotions, and soap. Just like the zinc-oxide I use in my own deodorant and sunscreen, I am sure to purchase only non-nano titanium dioxide; the particle are too big to penetrate the skin deeply thus minimizing the concerns about health risks. Always fun and exciting!
